Membership

Introduction

To become a member of the Society of Advocates, an Application Form must be completed. This includes three signatures of current members who are willing to approve your application. If you do not know any current members the Executive Secretary can tell you members already in your firm, or try and help some other way, just get in touch.

The form will be displayed on the notice board in the library for 14 days, in case anyone wishes to oppose the application. It then goes before a Management Committee meeting for approval. At this point you will be contacted with your membership details.

We have an email mailing list, which all members with an email address, are automatically added to, then there are the optional ones for:

CPD training opportunities (mailing list open to non members also)
Social Events
Defence agents / court practitioners
Trainees

This is to try and ensure that relevant information goes to relevant members only. Anyone without an email address is posted a hard copy of the most important items.

We are always open to suggestions of how the Society of Advocates could work better for our members, just contact the Executive Secretary or any member of the Management Committee.
