Who we are

Who we are

The Society's membership is drawn from lawyers of all age groups involved in the whole spectrum of legal business in the Aberdeen area. Indeed when the Society began, membership was essential if one wished to practise law in the area. Nowadays it includes Sheriffs, academics, commercial, court, corporate, trust, executry, property, family, tax, international and local authority lawyers, and in house company lawyers. It can claim to represent therefore the interests of the whole cross-section of the Aberdeen legal community.

Lobbying Power
The potential of the Society to use its membership weight to lobby for local legal interests at Local and National government levels and with the Law Society, the Scottish Courts Services and other such bodies is palpable. It already enjoys close contacts at these levels. The larger the membership, the greater the power of the Society to influence matters for the greater benefit of the interests of the profession locally and nationally.
