Social Activities

Social Activities

The Society organises each year an interesting and varied programme of Social activities which seeks to cater for all interests and tastes. The recent programme has included:

  • Antiques Roadshow evening with Bonhams
  • Tours of local interest sites such as Trinity Hall and the Tolbooth
  • Theatre trips with optional dinner beforehand
  • Regular monthly Library lunches
  • Quiz Night
  • Illustrated talk
  • Annual Hill Walk

It also includes the Society's Annual Dinner, held in November of each year, at which the principal guest is generally a Senator of the College of Justice or similar legal luminary. Recent years have included the Lord Advocate Eilish Angiolini and G Jack Davidson QC gracing the top table.

Social Contact
You will find that if you take advantage of the opportunities for fellowship and social activity which membership of the Society offers you will get to know, on a personal basis, many of your colleagues who have hitherto simply been faceless names or letter references. This social contact can lead to meaningful acquaintance and often friendship and creates real opportunities for dealing with and settling professional matters in a non adversarial fashion which only such familiarity can engender. It is impossible to put a price on such a facility from a business standpoint but it is undoubted.
